Nathan Hauke

pattern of excitement
Dull green ribbon past its prime
A cacophony of color
Bubbling up pleated yellow leaves in the gutter
One vision is a slick window another
Beard of bees threading burst pussy willow
Intentions, a handful of twigs snapped over the knee
Plastic Fanta bottle in the ditch
Salt-stained aluminum square of light

Name is a gift
Malleable as mud
Where chips of mirror slur
Under the horse’s hooves
